Shining a light on mental health
This week marks the annual Mental Health Awareness Week, a week dedicated to promoting mental health and well-being across the UK.
In a pickle during May half-term?
Come along to the Beacon of Light’s Pickleball drop-in sessions during the May school holidays.
These drop-in sessions encourage people and families of all ages to come and try a new sport, have fun and get active during half-term.
Pickleball, one of the fastest growing new sports in England, is a fun activity that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis. Played indoors on a badminton-sized court with a slightly modified tennis net. Two or four players use paddles similar to a larger table tennis racket to hit a plastic ball over a net.
All you need is some sportswear and trainers. We will provide the equipment.
Jemma Dowson “We have seen pickleball growing in popularity over recent months so wanted to invite the local community, young and old, to try it out and have fun with these sessions over May half-term.”
The drop-ins will run Tuesday 28 May – Friday 31 May for 1 hour each day. No need to book or pay in advance, just turn up on the day and pay at reception.
